California women’s gymnastics head coach Geralen Stack-Eaton has announced the appointment of Rich Stenger as associate head coach. Stenger, who brings over 30 years of coaching experience, joins Cal after spending 11 seasons at the University of Minnesota.
“We’re excited to officially announce Rich as the final addition to our coaching staff,” said Stack-Eaton. “After 11 years of working together at Minnesota, this next step feels like a natural progression.”
During his time at Minnesota, Stenger contributed to three NCAA Championship appearances and a Big Ten championship. He played a significant role in guiding the program to numerous honors, including 30 NCAA All-America awards and 43 WCGA regular-season All-America selections.
Stenger expressed enthusiasm about joining Cal’s program: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Cal women’s gymnastics—one of the nation’s premier programs at one of the world’s top universities.”
Before his tenure with the Gophers, Stenger worked with Twin City Twisters in Champlin, Minnesota. He also collaborated with Cal assistant coach Seth Helland during that period.
Stenger holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from St. Cloud State in Minnesota.
