Recent California women’s water polo graduate Rozanne Voorvelt has been named an Academic All-American, becoming the second in her program’s history. The 2025 Academic All-America Women’s At-Large Team was announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Voorvelt follows in the footsteps of former goalie Isabel Williams, who was the first from the program to receive this accolade last year. Voorvelt graduated in May with a degree in molecular environmental biology and earned Third Team honors after being named to the CSC All-District Team. She maintained a 3.84 cumulative GPA during her time at Cal and is anticipated to receive ACWPC All-Academic recognition for the fourth consecutive year.
In addition to her academic achievements, Voorvelt was notable for her performance in water polo. She twice received ACWPC All-American honorable mention and contributed to the Bears’ participation in the NCAA Tournament throughout all four years of her career, including reaching the national championship game in 2024.
Eligibility for CSC academic recognition requires student-athletes to be sophomores or higher both academically and athletically, maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and participate in at least 90 percent of games or start in at least 66 percent.
The CSC offers an Academic All-America program covering 16 specific sports, while other sports like water polo fall under the at-large division.
