Jordan Anthony Hughes, a 25-year-old resident of Sacramento, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison and a lifetime term of supervised release for producing child sexual abuse materials. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Daniel J. Calabretta, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.
Court documents reveal that in September 2022, Hughes used a child under the age of 12 to create visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct in Sacramento. His abuse dates back to at least 2017 and included taking videos and pictures of the minor victim. Additionally, Hughes used the internet to solicit images and videos from other underage victims by posing as an underage male himself. He also distributed images of child sexual abuse while pretending to assist or instruct his victims on performing certain acts.
The investigation was conducted by the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit of the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force, which includes the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Shea J. Kenny prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. The project involves federal, state, and local resources to locate offenders and rescue victims.
