San Diego County Sheriff investigates sexual battery incident in Poway

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department announced on May 3 that an 11-year-old girl was sexually battered by an unknown male near the 13400 block of Midland Road in Poway on May 2 at about 7:00 PM. The suspect fled after the victim’s friend intervened, and a search involving deputies, K9 units, and ASTREA did not locate him. Detectives from the Child Abuse Unit have taken over the investigation and conducted a canvas of the area.

The incident has raised concerns for community safety and highlights ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable residents. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Child Abuse Unit or Crime Stoppers, with options available for anonymous reporting.
