San Diego State was named the No. 1 seed for the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Baseball Championship, according to a May 16 announcement from the conference.

The tournament will take place from May 21 to May 24 at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona. As the top seed and regular-season champion, San Diego State received a first-round bye and will play on Friday, May 22 at 1:05 p.m. Pacific Time against the winner of Nevada (No. 4) versus New Mexico (No. 5).

First-round games begin Wednesday, May 21 with Air Force (No.3) facing UNLV (No.6) at 1:05 p.m., followed by Nevada versus New Mexico at 6:05 p.m. The double-elimination format starts after these opening matchups.

Under first-year head coach Kevin Vance, San Diego State finished its season with a record of 33-22 overall and went 16-8 in conference play. Since April, the team has posted a strong performance with a record of 17-6 and an eleven-game winning streak—the program’s longest since 1997.

Against other teams in this year’s tournament field, San Diego State is currently nine wins and six losses, including sweeps over Air Force and Nevada as well as a series win against Washington State during regular season play.

Historically, San Diego State has claimed six Mountain West postseason championships since the league began in addition to four regular-season titles. The team holds an all-time record of fifty-one wins and thirty-six losses across twenty-three appearances in the MW tournament.

All games of this year’s championship will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network app for free on various devices including Apple TV, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV or Roku.
