The San Jose Sharks announced on May 5 that forward Patrick Giles has signed a two-year, two-way contract extension with the club. General Manager Mike Grier said the agreement will keep Giles in the organization for the next two seasons.
Giles, who is 26 years old, played in 67 games with the San Jose Barracuda this season and recorded 24 points, including 10 goals and 14 assists. He tied for first on the team in shorthanded goals and ranked tenth in total goals. This season marked career highs for him in both points and assists during his first full year with the Barracuda. Giles also contributed to helping the Barracuda reach the Calder Cup Playoffs for a second straight year, appearing in two postseason games.
Over his career in the American Hockey League, Giles has appeared in 262 games between San Jose and Charlotte Checkers, scoring a total of 72 points with 35 goals and 37 assists. In addition to his AHL experience, he played three games with the Sharks this season and earned his first National Hockey League assist on November 2 against Detroit. Across his NHL career so far, he has skated in twenty games between San Jose and Florida Panthers—eleven of those as a Shark.
Giles stands six-foot-five inches tall and weighs 218 pounds. He is originally from Chevy Chase, Maryland. He was initially signed as a free agent by Florida on September 20, 2022 before joining San Jose via trade from Florida for Vitek Vanecek on March 5, 2025.
The contract extension reflects continued investment by San Jose Sharks management into their developing players.
