KJ Martin Jr., a 6-foot-8 forward from Tulsa, will join the San José State men’s basketball team for the 2026-27 season, head coach Tim Miles announced on May 15.
Martin Jr. will arrive at San José State as a sophomore after playing in all 38 games for the Golden Hurricane and helping them reach the National Invitation Tournament Championship game last season. His addition is expected to strengthen the Spartans’ roster with size and experience.
During his freshman year at Tulsa, Martin averaged 1.9 points and 1.5 rebounds in just under nine minutes per game. He shot .429 from the field and .391 from three-point range before redshirting in the following season after graduating high school early and joining Tulsa mid-year.
Martin was a four-year letterman at The Rock School, where he earned All-State First Team honors as a junior and helped his team to a state runner-up finish with a record of 26-6. In his shortened senior campaign, he averaged over 20 points, ten rebounds, and five assists per game.
Beyond basketball achievements, Martin co-authored a children’s book with his father aimed at teaching kids about American Sign Language.
“KJ is a young and promising forward who played in all 38 games for a 30-win Tulsa team. He is just scratching the surface of what he is capable of. Our staff is thrilled to announce KJ’s addition to the Spartan basketball family,” Miles said.
