Avinash Iyer led the San José State men’s golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship, according to a May 5 announcement. The tournament was held at the Omni Tucson National Resort and featured 12 teams.
The Spartans completed the event with a total score of 28-under par (836). This performance placed them in the top half of their conference field.
Iyer tied for sixth individually after shooting a final-round score of 68, which included six birdies. He finished at 10-under-par (206) for the tournament. Jed Dy also contributed with a strong final round, tying for fifteenth place after carding another 68 and finishing at seven-under-par (209).
Keshav “KC” Mungali delivered a clean final round as well, scoring five birdies and ending tied for nineteenth place at six-under-par (210). Ivan Barahona tied for twenty-seventh place with an overall score of three-under-par (213), while Christian Maggard rounded out the lineup in forty-sixth place with a total score of three-over-par (219).
The result reflects consistent performances across several players on the San José State roster. The team will look to build on this finish in future competitions.
