Senator Steven S. Choi, Ph.D. (R-Irvine) is encouraging Orange County residents to take part in the 9th Annual Love Costa Mesa Citywide Volunteer Day on May 16. The event brings together churches, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders for a series of service projects across Costa Mesa.
The annual event aims to strengthen community bonds through collective volunteer efforts that benefit local causes. Last year, more than 1,300 volunteers participated in over 70 projects throughout the city, supporting homeless outreach programs, foster families, and neighborhood beautification at schools and parks.
Activities for the day begin with a morning kickoff from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at Costa Mesa City Hall located at 77 Fair Dr., followed by project work from 9:00 a.m. to noon at various locations around the city. A citywide lunch celebration will be held back at City Hall from noon until 2:00 p.m.
“Love Costa Mesa is a wonderful example of what can happen when a community comes together in service to others,” said Senator Choi. “This event reflects the spirit of collaboration and neighborly care that strengthens Costa Mesa and all of Orange County. I encourage residents to take part in this meaningful day of volunteerism and community engagement.”
Love Costa Mesa is described as a movement focused on fostering collaboration throughout the city by connecting churches, businesses, city leadership, and nonprofits to address local challenges through service projects that include neighboring support for youth initiatives and homelessness outreach efforts.
