An Isla Vista man was arrested on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in connection with a reported sexual assault that occurred earlier that morning. According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 9:30 am to an incident in the 6500-block of Trigo Road. Investigators determined that the survivor endured a prolonged physical and sexual assault. At one point during the incident, the survivor escaped into a common area but was forced back into the apartment. Authorities stated that the survivor and suspect were known to each other.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Damian Silverio of Isla Vista, was taken into custody at 5:42 pm on Saturday. He was booked at Main Jail for several felony charges including kidnap to commit rape, rape by force or fear, false imprisonment, criminal threats, domestic violence, and preventing a victim from calling 911. Silverio is being held without bail.
Detectives believe there may be witnesses who have not yet come forward regarding this case. The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone who witnessed an altercation in the early morning hours of August 30 in the area of Trigo Road to contact Detective Ellis at (805)681-4150.
