A federal grand jury has indicted Robert Jordan, 52, of Stockton on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Acting U.S. Attorney Kimberly A. Sanchez announced the one-count indictment.
Court documents reveal that law enforcement officers stopped Jordan for driving without license plates. During the stop, they discovered his California Driver License and vehicle registration were expired. A subsequent search of his vehicle uncovered a loaded revolver in the center console. Due to prior felony convictions for attempted murder and transporting a controlled substance, Jordan is prohibited from possessing firearms.
The case resulted from an investigation by the Stockton Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jason Hitt and Charles Campbell are handling prosecution duties.
If convicted, Jordan could face up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. However, any sentence would be at the court’s discretion after considering statutory factors and Federal Sentencing Guidelines. The charges remain allegations until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
This case forms part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The initiative was strengthened on May 26, 2021, with new strategies focusing on trust-building, community support, strategic enforcement priorities, and result measurement.
Additionally, this case is linked to Operation Take Back America—a nationwide initiative targeting illegal immigration, cartels, transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and violent crime perpetrators—by utilizing resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) alongside PSN efforts.
