A Stockton resident has pleaded guilty to charges related to firearms trafficking, including the illegal sale of two machine guns. According to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Eric Grant, Rayshawn Williams, 20, admitted in court to illegally dealing in firearms and possessing machine guns.
Court documents state that between May and July 2024, Williams sold a total of 10 firearms for cash to a confidential informant during street transactions. Among the weapons sold were two Glock pistols equipped with conversion devices known as “switches,” which allow the pistols to operate in fully automatic mode.
The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Stockton Police Department Crime Gun Intelligence Center. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jason Hitt and Zulkar Khan.
Williams is scheduled for sentencing before U.S. District Judge John A. Mendez on December 9, 2025. He faces up to 10 years in prison for each machine gun charge and up to five years for illegal firearms trafficking, as well as a potential $250,000 fine. The final sentence will be determined by the court based on statutory factors and federal guidelines.
The case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative that brings together resources from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) programs to address violent crime and criminal organizations.
“Rayshawn Williams, 20, of Stockton, pleaded guilty today to illegally dealing in firearms and two counts of possessing machine guns,” said U.S. Attorney Eric Grant.
