Under a new mandate from Los Angeles County, restaurants and bars with outdoor dining are not permitted to have large-screen televisions outside, further confounding restaurant owners looking forward to Super Bowl crowds.
San Pedro Brewing Company owner James Brown is frustrated with the order that came down several days prior to the Super Bowl.
"Super Bowl's always a busy day," Brown told “Fox and Friends,” Fox News reported. "The whole idea behind outdoor dining is so people could go outside and not go inside and spread the COVID. What's going to happen on the Super Bowl? Everybody's getting forced to go back inside. It's frustrating."
To keep the day rolling, Brown is limiting diners to a 90-minute stay to serve as many customers as his staff can in an effort to recover losses from the pandemic restrictions. He was hoping to attract more outdoor diners by letting them enjoy the Super Bowl.
Brown is trying to keep positive. "It's definitely been an up and down rollercoaster like I've never seen," Brown said. "Things are going to get better, but we'd like to show the Super Bowl."
