More than a month since the Capitol was breached, Republican members of Congress are waiting on clear answers from Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
A letter was sent to Pelosi asking her for detailed information about the security lapses on Jan. 6.
“Many important questions about your responsibility for the security of the Capitol remain unanswered,” the letter stated.
The Republicans pointed out in their letter that the Speaker “is responsible for all operational decisions made within the House.”
Pelosi is being asked why then-Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund's request for National Guard support was denied, if Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving sought instruction from her staff, and what conversations and what guidance did she and her staff share with Irving leading up to Jan. 6.
The Republicans also claim House officers are refusing to comply with requests to preserve and turn over materials relevant to the events of Jan. 6.
The letter was signed by Reps. Rodney Davis of Illinois, Jim Jordan of Ohio, James Comer of Kentucky, and Devin Nunes of California, The Epoch Times reported.
