Congressman Darrell Issa (Calif., 50) gave his thoughts on the Gov. Newsom recall effort, President Trump’s impeachment trial, and the future of the Republican party during an interview at Fox News’ Justice with Judge Jeanine.
According to Jeanine Pirro, the required number of 1.5 million signatures for the Recall Newsom effort to initiate a special election has already been reached but was increased to 2 million.
It was a margin of safety according to the congressman to ensure that the Democrats will not be able to “work against any ballots that aren’t perfect.” “This is a deep, deep blue state,” Issa said.
Issa said the Democrats tried to smear Trump and the Republican party and “it fell apart,” when asked about the outcome of the impeachment trial. The case was “who said it and not what was said.”
He said without the leadership of Trump, the Republicans have a lot of rebuilding to do. He expects to do that in two years but there is a lot of work to do, "including the ballot rolls are cleaned up properly to make sure that everyone votes but no one votes twice.”
“As Republicans, we have to take the best of Trump, the best of Reagan, the best of Lincoln and put it all together. We’re the party of smaller government, the small business, and the small business worker. As we show it to people, we’re going to become the majority party again,” Issa said.
