Out of more than 200 amendments offered by Republicans that could be included in the America Rescue Plan, only two have been accepted. Republicans continue to fight and urge that the bill should not be partisan.

Republican House Leader Kevin McCarthy confirmed this in a tweet.

“Republicans offered 286 amendments to President Biden's massive $1.9 TRILLION spending blowout. Democrats accepted 2 of them. So much for Biden’s calls for ‘unity,’” McCarthy said.

Critical of the bill, which he said is “too costly, too, corrupt and too liberal,” he noted that “only 9 percent goes to COVID.”

McCarthy identified that approximately “$100 million for a tunnel in Silicon Valley just outside Speaker Pelosi’s district, or a bridge to Schumer.”

He added that two-thirds of the money allocated for education cannot be spent until 2023.

“This is the wrong path and this is not what President Biden said he would do at the inaugural.”

McCarthy gave a further comment about the bill in a released statement.

“Our proposals were targeted, timely and tied to COVID needs. For example, they would prioritize American citizens for COVID relief, provide back-to-work bonuses, and increase the distribution goal of vaccines to two million doses a day. All of these solutions are backed by evidence and common sense. But House Democrats rejected them nearly unanimously,” he said.
