Custody Deputy Florice Soto was honored at the Military Order of the World Wars, Colonel George C. Woolsey Chapter 113 awards luncheon with the National Law and Order Outstanding Performance Award. The award recognizes individuals who excel in local, and national security, homeland security, law enforcement, and service to the community.
Soto, a military veteran who served with the United States Army for 10 years, was commended for her outstanding work in the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office. She began her career with the office in 1998 and has since become a respected and knowledgeable member of the Custody Operations Division.
Custody Deputy Soto is currently assigned to the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) Northern Branch Jail facility, where she works closely with mental health professionals and community resources to support the incarcerated population. According to Custody Commander Sullivan, Soto's colleagues and inmates alike recognize her as an extraordinary individual who positively impacts the community.
Soto's dedication and professionalism have not gone unnoticed, as she has previously been named Custody Deputy of the Quarter twice. Her commitment to her role as a training officer for over twenty years has helped guide new team members with the values of the Sheriff’s Office in action.
