UC Davis emergency officials are urging employees and students to update their contact information ahead of the upcoming test of the WarnMe emergency notification system on April 24. The test will involve sending alerts via text message and email to faculty, staff, and students. Those with mobile numbers added to their WarnMe contact information will receive text messages during the test.

Messages will not only be sent through traditional channels but will also be posted on social media platforms. According to officials, WarnMe messages will contain crucial information and guidance for emergencies that directly threaten life and safety. Additionally, the Aggie Alert messages will provide updates on any disruptive events in and around the Davis campus facilities.

To ensure comprehensive coverage, employees and students are encouraged to include personal email addresses and mobile numbers in their WarnMe contact information. Individuals can update their information on the WarnMe website and choose to receive messages for specific groups, tailoring the notifications they receive.

For those without a UC Davis email address, such as parents and vendors, there is an option to sign up for WarnMe and Aggie Alert messages by texting UCDAlerts to 888777. This ensures that important notifications can reach a wider audience. The Everbridge Mobile App is also available for download for those with a UC Davis email address, providing another avenue to receive messages.

It is important to note that the Everbridge Mobile App is particularly useful for individuals with international mobile numbers, as the WarnMe and Aggie Alert systems do not support international text messaging. The Sacramento campus will also be conducting a similar test on the same day, ensuring that emergency preparedness measures are in place across various locations."
