Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a series of appointments across various state agencies. These appointments do not require Senate confirmation and involve individuals with extensive experience in their respective fields.

Sarah Soto-Taylor, from Sacramento, has been appointed as the Undersecretary of the Government Operations Agency. She has been serving as Deputy Secretary for Business Transformation and Strategic Development since 2019. Her previous roles include Senior Consultant at Covered California and positions at the Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board. Soto-Taylor holds degrees from San Diego State University and is a member of Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE). The position offers compensation of $218,388.

Erin Suhr, also from Sacramento, will take on the role of Senior Advisor for Strategic Initiatives at the Government Operations Agency. Suhr's background includes being Director of Operations in Governor Newsom's office and roles with Fahr LLC and The Center for the Next Generation. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Montana. Her new role comes with a salary of $198,000.

Adam Ebrahim, hailing from Carmichael, has been named Senior Director of Policy and Continuous Improvement at the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. His career includes consultancy work with Azimuth Learning Partners and educational strategy roles at Parsec Education and other organizations. Ebrahim possesses multiple advanced degrees including one from National University. He will receive $172,704 in this position.

Clair Whitmer, based in Vallejo, steps into the Deputy Director role at the California Office of the Small Business Advocate. Previously an Assistant Deputy Director within the same office, her past experiences include CEO of UpBay Express and various media-related positions. Whitmer earned her Bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University and will be compensated $152,772.

Trelynd D.J. Bradley from Los Angeles is appointed as Deputy Director for Innovation and Emerging Technologies at the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development. Bradley's history includes work focused on sustainable freight development within GO-Biz as well as policy analysis roles elsewhere in government sectors. He graduated from UC Riverside with dual majors in Business Economics and Political Science; his new role offers $144,492 annually.
