California Attorney General Rob Bonta has announced that the California Department of Justice is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Santa Ana. The investigation, conducted under Assembly Bill 1506, will independently review the incident that took place on December 1, 2024.
The shooting occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. and resulted in one fatality. After being notified by local authorities, the DOJ's California Police Shooting Investigation Team began its investigation as mandated by AB 1506. Upon completion, the findings will be forwarded to the DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division for further review.
