FOIA Request to California State Board of Education Regarding Instructional Mandates for State K-12 Schools on December 10, 2024.
In a bid to enhance transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Golden State Today have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the California State Board of Education. The request, made under the California Public Records Act § 6250 et seq., seeks to obtain a comprehensive list of all instructional mandates for state K-12 schools. This includes all required courses and general instruction.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to such public records is essential for us. It allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We await the board's response and will keep our readers updated with any developments.
