FOIA Request Sent to California State University Office of the Chancellor Regarding University Employees' Salaries on January 7, 2025

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the California State University Office of the Chancellor on January 7, 2025. The request, made by Golden State Today, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, seeks access to public records detailing the compensation of all university employees.

The requested information includes each employee's name, title, university name, employment type, and compensation amount. The request was made under the California Public Records Act § 6250 et seq., with a preference for receiving the data in an electronic format.

As representatives of Golden State Today, we are deeply involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We await a response from the California State University Office of the Chancellor regarding this matter.
