Detectives from the Compliance Response Team (CRT) have arrested a Lompoc resident for possessing a substantial amount of heroin. On February 25, 2025, CRT detectives performed a compliance check at the home of Miguel Garcia, aged 41, located in the 300-block of L Street in Lompoc. During this operation, deputies discovered Garcia with 180 grams of heroin. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Northern Branch Jail on charges of felony possession of narcotics for sales and violating Post-Release Community Supervision. Garcia is currently being held without bail.
The CRT is funded by State Assembly Bill 109 money distributed through the Community Corrections Partnership, which comprises various county law enforcement and judicial representatives. This team includes Sheriff Deputies and Probation Officers and was established following the State’s Prison Re-alignment program. The program shifted supervision responsibilities for certain offenders from state to county authorities. The CRT's mission is to ensure community safety by regularly monitoring these high-risk individuals.
Their duties involve conducting compliance checks on realigned clients, providing support, and apprehending wanted individuals. The CRT employs a balanced approach that prioritizes community safety while also addressing client needs by offering services such as transportation to probation offices, sobering centers, and residential treatment programs. Additionally, when necessary, the CRT conducts extraditions for clients arrested in other states.
