Attorney General Rob Bonta has submitted a second amicus brief opposing the executive order issued by former President Donald Trump, which prohibits transgender individuals from serving in the military. The action continues Bonta's efforts to challenge the policy, arguing that it is discriminatory and undermines military readiness.
"Transgender service members have served our country with honor and distinction," said Attorney General Bonta. "They deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, not subjected to discrimination."
The brief was filed in collaboration with other states, highlighting a collective stance against the executive order. This move aligns with previous legal actions taken by various states and organizations seeking to overturn the policy.
"We will continue to fight for the rights of all individuals to serve their country without fear of discrimination," Bonta added.
The case remains under judicial review as parties await further developments.
