Senior goalkeeper Teagan Wy has been named to the Preseason All-ACC team for the second consecutive year, according to an announcement made Thursday by the conference’s head coaches.
Wy is the only goalkeeper selected among the 14 players on this year’s preseason team. This recognition positions her as a leading player in what is considered one of the strongest conferences in women’s soccer.
“Despite missing a large portion of last season to lead Team USA to a bronze medal at the 2024 U20 FIFA World Cup, Wy was named Second Team All-ACC. Wy ranked in the top 10 of the ACC with a .788 save percentage and 1.14 goals against average for the overall season. In ACC play, she ranked fourth with a .794 save percentage, seventh with 4.50 saves per game, and eighth with 1.246 goals against average. Wy ended the regular season with a 6-3-0 record.”
Throughout last season, Wy delivered strong performances during key matches. She recorded nine saves against North Carolina, including saving a penalty kick late in regulation time. Against Pitt, she earned her first shutout of the season and made five saves; she also contributed five saves in just under an hour before leaving due to injury against Duke. In postseason play, Wy tallied seven saves versus Arkansas during Cal’s NCAA Championship run.
The Preseason ACC Coaches Poll was also released, projecting California to finish tenth out of seventeen teams this year after being picked eleventh last season but ultimately tying for seventh place with Stanford.
