The first annual Employee Giving Back-to-School Supplies Drive at the University of California, Davis, was held from October 20 to 24. The event was organized by the Employee Giving Committee, which oversees the UC Davis Employee Giving Program.
This inaugural effort collected a total of 1,025 pounds of donations for the ASUCD Pantry. The Pantry is a student-run organization that provides food and essential items to UC Davis students in need. Its goal is to help reduce financial stress and ensure students have access to basic necessities while pursuing their education.
“For our first Employee Giving Back-to-School Supplies Drive to bring in over 1,000 pounds to support our student community with basic needs — from canned food and snacks to essential hygiene products — is truly amazing,” said Korinne Labourdette, assistant director of Philanthropy Programs, Annual and Special Gifts Programs. “I appreciate the 11 teams from across the university that rallied their colleagues to help our students thrive.”
The Department of Transportation Services partnered with the committee for this year’s drive by collecting supplies from different campus locations and delivering them to The Pantry. Participating teams included Advancement (School of Veterinary Medicine), Shields Library, College of Biological Sciences, Foundation Plant Services, Alumni Center, Dean’s Office (College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences), Languages and Literature, Alumni and Affiliate Relations, Proposal Services (DEVAR), Advancement Services (DEVAR), and Annual and Special Gifts Programs (DEVAR).
An upcoming MLK Employee Giving Supplies Drive is scheduled for January 20-26, 2026. Those interested in participating can sign up online.
