The University of California, Davis reported raising nearly $318 million in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, marking its second-highest fundraising total to date. The university received 55,028 gifts from 29,047 donors, exceeding its annual goal by more than $82 million.

Chancellor Gary S. May commented on the achievement: “We are deeply grateful to our community for making this one of the most successful fundraising years in UC Davis history. The outpouring of generous support is a reflection of the trust our community places in us and the shared belief in our mission.”

This fundraising milestone follows the conclusion of UC Davis’s largest campaign, Expect Greater: From UC Davis, For the World, which ended in June 2024 with over $2.2 billion raised.

Shaun B. Keister, vice chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations and president of the UC Davis Foundation, said: “Strong, ongoing support from our entire campus community — including alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff, retirees and volunteers — has only grown in momentum since the Expect Greater campaign ended. Thanks to their commitment, we are continuing to expand our impact.”

The university noted that donor contributions have been particularly important during a period marked by increased budget challenges.

Several units at UC Davis set new records this year. The School of Veterinary Medicine raised $118 million—56% higher than its previous record—supporting workforce development efforts and facility expansions such as a new Veterinary Medical Complex and a veterinary center scheduled to open in Southern California in 2026.

Dean Mark Stetter stated: “Philanthropy is the fuel that allows our school to dream big and have huge positive impact on our world. Our wonderful donors are also our partners — together, we are creating a future where every life, whether on four legs or two, is met with compassion, dignity and the best that science can offer.”

UC Davis Health was another leading recipient with $58 million raised for medical education and care initiatives. The Office of Research more than doubled its previous fundraising record by securing $34.8 million for interdisciplinary research programs at facilities such as Bodega Marine Laboratory and Tahoe Environmental Research Center.

The Arboretum and Public Garden also saw its highest-ever fundraising year at $4.4 million after receiving an anonymous estate gift supporting student leadership programs recognized nationally for excellence.

All donation sizes contributed to these results. During Give Day on April 11-12, 2025—the ninth annual event—over 4,100 donations helped raise more than $4.5 million for various university needs including scholarships and research opportunities.
