Darren Mitchell, a 35-year-old resident of Vallejo, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine and firearms. The sentence was handed down by Senior U.S. District Judge William B. Shubb, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Kimberly A. Sanchez.

Evidence presented during a five-day jury trial showed that Mitchell arranged a deal involving 1,000 methamphetamine pills with a buyer who later testified at the trial. Federal agents executed a search warrant at Mitchell’s home in Vallejo several days after the transaction was negotiated.

During the search, agents found two infants living in the residence along with methamphetamine-laced pills and an industrial pill pressing machine. Law enforcement also discovered a loaded AR-15 assault-style rifle and a loaded Smith & Wesson pistol with its serial number removed, both hidden inside the dishwasher.

“This case was the product of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cameron Desmond and Sam Stefanki prosecuted the case.”
