A West Hollywood man has been arrested by Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives for allegedly running a luxury car scam that targeted multiple victims with promises of discounted high-end vehicles. Authorities are now seeking additional victims who may have been affected by the scheme.
The case began on March 30, 2025, when a victim reported paying for a vehicle that was never delivered. The investigation led detectives to Jonathan Tudor, age 64, of West Hollywood. Tudor is accused of pretending to be a senior executive at BMW and convincing people to pay for vehicles under false pretenses.
According to investigators, Tudor hosted an event in November 2024 at a hotel in Santa Barbara where he showed off a luxury car and claimed he could offer exclusive deals. Attendees were persuaded to sign contracts and send payments—typically around $16,000—for cars they never received. When questioned about the delays, Tudor allegedly provided false explanations and did not return any money.
Detectives have so far identified four victims within Santa Barbara County. The Santa Barbara Police Department has also received similar complaints, and authorities believe there could be more victims in other areas including Los Angeles.
On July 29, 2025, sheriff’s detectives executed a search and arrest warrant at Tudor’s home on Norton Avenue in West Hollywood. Investigators seized luxury items from brands such as Hermès, Gucci, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and Saint Laurent with an estimated value exceeding $250,000. Detectives suspect these goods were bought using funds obtained from the alleged scam. There is no indication that the promised vehicles ever existed.
Tudor was booked into the Santa Barbara County Main Jail on 61 felony charges including theft by false pretenses, grand theft, money laundering, and financial elder abuse. His bail has been set at $350,000.
