House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) urged President Biden to stop making America weaker and focus on putting people back to work.

In a Tweet relating to President Biden's energy plan in San Antonio, Texas, he said that the president “promised that his oil and gas ban would apply to new leases only, but the producers I've met with in Texas told me that simply isn’t the case. Federal bureaucrats are interpreting the rule in a way that is slowing and even stopping production on existing leases.”

During his visit to San Antonio, he said that this isn’t the “time to jeopardize American jobs or the crucial tax and royalty revenues.”

McCarthy also pointed out that when Biden swiftly canceled the Keystone XL Pipeline permit, the president did not just eliminate jobs for those who were directly working for the project but has also destroyed other businesses such as hotels and restaurants.

“He is shutting down revenues that could go to schools, government, and roads, to help America become stronger and energy independent.”

“From an environmental point of view he’s made us weaker,” McCarthy said. “Our natural gas is 42 percent cleaner than Russian natural gas. It makes no sense, from science to jobs and others.”

“Focus on the 10 million Americans who are out of work right now,” McCarthy urged Biden.
