Assemblymember Marie Waldron posted a statement on Twitter calling for all schools in California to start reopening.
She started off the tweet by saying that Republicans have been trying to abide by the CDC’s rules and open schools safely. But she said that their efforts were always thwarted by the governor and legislative Democrats.
Waldron criticized Gov. Gavin Newsom for the tier system he came up with that she says was ineffective and confusing. She said that Newsom’s system kept the schools in California closed, which has been detrimental to parents and students.
She also said that if schools in other countries were already able to open their schools then California should also be able to do so as well. She said that they all knew what the protocols are in reopening schools safely so there should be no reason to keep them closed.
Waldron challenged Newsom and the Democrats and told them that if they really wanted to help students and parents then they should work with Republicans and the CDC to reopen schools safely and quickly.
