California Attorney General Rob Bonta has launched a new webpage for residents to report disruptions in Social Security benefits. The initiative allows those affected to submit their complaints online.

“Your social security benefits should not be impacted by President Trump and Elon Musk’s cuts to federal funding and programs,” said Attorney General Bonta. “If you experience any disruptions to your social security benefits, I want to know. Please report any disruptions to my office using the form found at oag.ca.gov/socialsecurity.”

Recently, people have faced several issues while accessing their Social Security benefits. These have included website outages, difficulties accessing online accounts, and delays in receiving benefits. These problems are attributed to several changes, such as workforce reductions of 12% at the Social Security Administration, the potential reduction of its phone services, and the closure of field offices. The California Department of Justice aims to safeguard residents from unlawful actions that could interfere with federal entitlement programs like Social Security benefits.

The California Department of Justice does not represent individuals but seeks to understand the federal actions' impacts on the state and assist in any potential future actions. To file a complaint, residents can visit the webpage.

For those experiencing disruptions or difficulties with the Social Security Administration, contacting Congressional representatives may provide additional assistance. Useful links include contacting your House Representative, Senator Alex Padilla, and Senator Adam Schiff. Local legal aid programs may also offer help, with resources available at lawhelpca.org.

Complaints can also be made directly to the Social Security Administration through their website or by calling 1-800-772-1213. Issues concerning Social Security fraud should be directed to the Social Security Office of the Inspector General. Additionally, if there is a wish to contact the Trump Administration, information is provided on doing so.
