A juvenile has been arrested for assaulting two other juveniles with a deadly weapon in Santa Barbara, California. According to reports, a 17-year-old female juvenile victim and a 17-year-old male juvenile were found with non-life threatening wounds to their leg and arm, respectively. The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived, but was later identified as a 16-year-old male.
In response to the incident, San Marcos High School initiated a "Secure" protocol, directing students to stay indoors and lock outside doors. This protocol was recently adopted in collaboration with law enforcement agencies to ensure safety during such situations. The protocol was lifted once the suspect was in custody.
The juvenile suspect voluntarily surrendered at Sheriff’s Headquarters and was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. The investigation is still ongoing, and the suspect has been booked at the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall.
