Family History Week is set to take place in Sacramento from April 1-6, offering individuals the opportunity to delve into their family heritage. The event will feature a series of activities aimed at helping participants explore their ancestors and create a lasting family legacy.
One of the event's highlights will be the display of replicas of the 1849 and 1879 State Constitutions by the California Secretary of State's Office. Natalia Visante, Acting State Archivist, expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming Family History Week, highlighting the importance of building partnerships with genealogical groups and providing access to genealogical resources for Californian citizens.
Visante stated, "Family History Week is an example of how we are meeting our strategic goals to build partnerships with genealogical groups and provide the citizens of California with connections to genealogical resources. Attendees will learn about new resources and meet people who share a common interest in the past, and hopefully leave with useful information to enhance their genealogical research skills. We look forward to welcoming you to the State Archives and sharing our resources with you."
The California State Archives, known for its extensive genealogical resources, will be offering tours and classes on Saturday, April 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Advance registration is required for the Saturday tours, and interested individuals can register through the provided links on the event website.
Family History Week aims to provide a platform for individuals to connect with their roots, discover their family history, and create a meaningful legacy to pass on to future generations. For more information and to register for activities, visit the Family History Week website.
