California has taken significant steps towards re-opening Madera Community Hospital, with the approval of a $57 million loan and a management change application. Governor Gavin Newsom's Distressed Hospital Loan Program played a crucial role in facilitating this process. Senator Caballero and Assemblymember Soria have expressed their optimism and gratitude for the progress made towards reopening the hospital.

Governor Newsom emphasized the importance of re-opening the hospital, stating, “Getting this hospital back open and on its feet financially will allow Madera County residents to get the care they need — in their own community." Senator Caballero expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am thankful to the Governor and his office for their partnership and support. I remain cautiously optimistic that our work over the last two years will result in the successful reopening of the hospital." Assemblymember Soria echoed these sentiments, stating, “Re-opening Madera Community Hospital has and continues to be my number one priority."

Madera Mayor Santos Garcia also extended his appreciation to Governor Newsom, highlighting the hospital's crucial role in providing essential medical services to the community. Additionally, Madera County Supervisor Leticia Gonzalez expressed gratitude to State Senator Anna Caballero and Assemblywoman Soria for their initiatives in establishing the Distressed Hospital Loan Program.

The approvals granted will enable Madera Community Hospital to commence the reopening process, bringing much-needed healthcare services back to Madera and the surrounding communities. The support from state and local officials underscores the collaborative effort to ensure residents have access to life-saving and preventative healthcare.

California's commitment to supporting the state's health care delivery system and medically underserved communities is evident through initiatives like the Distressed Hospital Loan Program. By keeping these health care access points open, the state is working towards its goal of a Healthy California for All.
