Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. has certified the results of the California March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election. In a statement, Secretary Weber expressed, "I am pleased to continue the transparency of data relating to California’s elections by releasing the March 5, 2024, Statement of Vote." She further emphasized, "The data demonstrates how every vote matters and I encourage those eligible to register to vote to do so, to educate themselves about the candidates and measures, and to vote in the November 5, 2024, General Election.”
The results of the election show that 7,719,218 Californians voted, with 6,841,984 VBM (Vote-By-Mail) ballots cast and 877,234 ballots cast at voting locations. The voter turnout was reported at 34.96% of registered voters.
Secretary Weber also provided a historical comparison of California Presidential Primary Elections, showing the total votes cast and turnout percentages for the years 2024, 2020, 2016, 2012, 2008, and 2004.
