Governor Gavin Newsom expressed his condolences for the passing of Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputy Alfredo “Freddy” Flores, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty. In a statement, Governor Newsom, alongside Jennifer, shared, "Jennifer and I join the Los Angeles community in grieving the profound loss of Deputy Sheriff Flores, who demonstrated unwavering dedication and bravery in his service to our state. Our heartfelt condolences are with his loved ones, friends, and colleagues. Deputy Flores’ legacy will continue to inspire us all."
Deputy Flores, a 22-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, passed away on April 20, 2024, due to injuries sustained six months prior. At 51 years old, Deputy Flores leaves behind his wife, children, parents, and siblings.
As a tribute to Deputy Flores, flags at the State Capitol and Capitol Annex Swing Space will be lowered to half-staff, honoring his dedication and sacrifice in serving the community.
