California DOJ investigates Riverside County officer-involved shooting under AB 1506

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced today that the California Department of Justice is investigating an officer-involved shooting (OIS) in Corona, California. The incident, which occurred on June 11, 2024, at approximately 1:10 AM, involved the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and resulted in the death of one individual.

The investigation is being conducted under Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), which mandates independent reviews of certain police shootings. Following notification by local authorities, the DOJ’s California Police Shooting Investigation Team initiated the investigation. Upon completion, the findings will be reviewed by the DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division.
