Governor Newsom signs multiple bills addressing various state issues

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the signing of several bills into law. The new legislation includes:

- AB 375 by Assemblymember Laurie Davies (R-Laguna Niguel) on food delivery platforms and disclosure of delivery drivers’ identity.

- AB 1782 by Assemblymember Tri Ta (R-Westminster) regarding redevelopment and successor agencies' Low and Moderate Income Housing Asset Fund.

- AB 1790 by Assemblymember Damon Connolly (D-San Rafael) addressing sexual harassment at California State University and implementing recommendations from the California State Auditor.

- AB 1870 by Assemblymember Liz Ortega (D-San Leandro) on legal services notice to employees.

- AB 1881 by Assemblymember Laurie Davies (R-Laguna Niguel) concerning scientific panel expertise on coastal erosion for the California Coastal Commission.

- AB 1900 by Assemblymember Dr. Akilah Weber (D-San Diego) related to consumer refunds and nondisclosure agreements.

- AB 1903 by Assemblymember Brian Maienschein (D-San Diego) focusing on international commercial arbitration procedures.

- AB 1916 by Assemblymember Brian Maienschein (D-San Diego) about self-service storage facilities and abandoned personal property.

Additional signed bills cover a wide range of topics including transit districts, gaming funds, academic support, animal adoption, political reform, controlled substances, building standards, unemployment insurance violations, transportation funding for tribes, trustees of the California State University, labor commissioner whistleblower protections, regional transit districts in Sacramento, tax contribution funds for Alzheimer's research, medical evidentiary examinations for sexual assault cases, pollution control financing authority projects, claims against the state appropriations, financial solvency standards board membership changes, public employee retirement systems modifications, pupil instruction on sextortion prevention among others.

Governor Newsom also vetoed two bills:

- AB 2570 by Assemblymember Joe Patterson (R-Rocklin), which concerned the Department of Housing and Community Development's annual report on the Homeless Housing Assistance and Prevention program.

- AB 2708 by Assemblymember Jim Patterson (R-Fresno), which pertained to reports from the Office of Broadband and Digital Literacy.
