“California is the tentpole of the American economy. Home to the world’s greatest higher-education system. A place where people can love who they want, access the reproductive freedom they deserve, and pursue a dream of a safe and prosperous life – their California dream. Across the spectrum, California simply has no peers,” stated Governor Gavin Newsom.

California's economy is notable for hosting the most Fortune 500 companies, surpassing states like Texas and Florida. Travel spending in California reached an unprecedented $150.4 billion. The state also leads in technology, housing 35 of the world's top 50 AI companies and holding a quarter of related patents and conference papers. Additionally, California ranks first in new business starts, venture capital funding access, manufacturing, high-tech industries, and agriculture.

Following the overturning of Roe v Wade by Republican-appointed Justices on the U.S. Supreme Court, Governor Newsom signed over 25 bills to protect and expand reproductive freedom. This includes investing more than $200 million to support patients and providers and passing a state constitutional amendment safeguarding abortion, contraception, and IVF.

In terms of gun safety laws, California is ranked as the leading state by Giffords Law Center and Everytown for Gun Safety. The state's stringent regulations correlate with some of the lowest rates of gun deaths nationwide.

The federal SUN Bucks program benefits 3.2 million children in California who would not typically receive meals during summer months—a program rejected by more than 13 Republican Governors.

Healthcare access has been expanded in California to include all lower-income residents regardless of age or immigration status. This initiative aims at providing cost-efficient preventative care contributing to one of the highest life expectancies in the nation.

Addressing climate change remains a priority for California with an investment of $45 billion towards tackling this crisis. Clean electricity production exceeded demand during 91 out of 102 days earlier this year as reported up to June 16th.

Higher education institutions such as Stanford University, University of California Berkeley (UC Berkeley), and University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) are globally recognized for their excellence. In enhancing social mobility among students, institutions like California State University Los Angeles rank highly alongside others within the state.

The University of California system stands out globally for earning numerous patents in research development.

California promotes inclusivity through initiatives supporting gender-affirming care and LGBTQ+ equality set for enshrinement in November's state constitution vote. Efforts like Governor Newsom's Golden State Plan aim to counter antisemitism while other initiatives address hate against Muslim, Palestinian American, and Arab American communities through programs like CA vs Hate.

Transportation advancements include progress on America's first high-speed rail system connecting major cities such as Los Angeles and San Francisco with future expansions planned towards San Diego and Sacramento.
