Sacramento, Calif. - The California University and College Ballot Bowl commenced today. Hosted by the California Secretary of State Students Vote Project (SVP), the Ballot Bowl is a competition where California Community Colleges, California State Universities, University of California campuses, and Independent Colleges and Universities vie to register the most students to vote and highlight civic engagement efforts. The SVP organizes the Ballot Bowl in even-numbered years for the general election.
The SVP aims to increase civic engagement and voter participation among college students across California. By promoting the Ballot Bowl as a friendly competition to register students, the SVP seeks to boost voter turnout among those aged 18-25 for the 2024 Presidential General Election. The Ballot Bowl competition concludes on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
"Students are a powerful force in the state of California," said California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. “Registering to vote is just one piece to the puzzle. The real power lies in actually voting and making their voices heard.”
