The University of California, Davis has been recognized as one of the top public universities in the United States, securing the 10th position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2025. The rankings were published on October 9 and evaluated nearly 2,900 institutions globally.

UC Davis was tied for 62nd place among almost 2,100 universities worldwide and ranked 26th among all American universities. The evaluation was based on 18 performance indicators across five areas: teaching quality (29.5%), research environment (29%), research quality or influence (30%), industry income from inventions and industrial work (4%), and international outlook based on staff, students, and research collaborations (7.5%).

This recognition is part of a series of accolades UC Davis has received recently. According to U.S. News & World Report's 2025 Best Colleges rankings, UC Davis is ranked ninth among the nation's top public universities. This marks the fourth consecutive year it has been listed in their top ten public universities category.

Furthermore, WSJ/College Pulse rankings placed UC Davis third among public universities nationwide and twelfth overall for preparing graduates for financial success. In Washington Monthly's 2024 College Rankings, UC Davis held the eleventh spot among public institutions. Additionally, Princeton Review’s The Best 390 Colleges — 2025 edition ranked UC Davis seventh in its Top 20 Best Schools for Making an Impact list.

UC Davis emphasizes that while these rankings highlight its strengths in education quality, research impact, and social mobility offered to students, they should be considered alongside other factors when choosing a college. The university advises prospective students to consult with counselors and admissions advisors and visit campuses if possible.
