California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., has announced that county elections officials are actively counting ballots from the November 5, 2024, General Election. The official canvass process allows them up to 30 days post-election to complete tallying, auditing, and certification.
As of now, officials have processed and counted over 10.7 million ballots, with an estimated 5.4 million still unprocessed. These figures come from a report compiled by county election officials, which can be accessed online.
Ballots postmarked by Election Day and received within seven days must be counted. Secretary Weber emphasized the importance of accuracy in the vote count: “County elections officials have been hard at work processing and counting the millions of ballots cast by California voters. Ensuring the accuracy and the integrity of the vote count is critical to our democracy."
Final results for the Presidential contest must be reported by December 3, while all other contests have a deadline of December 5. The certification of results will occur on December 13.
