On February 21, 2025, Rep. Torres criticized former President Donald Trump for allegedly facilitating easier access for cartels and terrorists to obtain U.S. weapons by weakening export rules. She stated, "Trump is making it easier for cartels and terrorists to get U.S. weapons by weakening export rules. I fought to stop this with my Prevent Crime and Terrorism Act, but he put gun sales over national security." She emphasized the need for stronger oversight rather than reducing it.

In another tweet on the same day, she highlighted her commitment to ensuring that government actions reflect the interests of its citizens.
