Governor Newsom announces key regional water board reappointments

Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a series of reappointments to various Regional Water Quality Control Boards across California. These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation and each position carries a compensation of $250 per diem.

Monica Hunter from Los Osos will continue her role at the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, where she has served since 2005. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Anthropology from UCLA and is currently the Chief Researcher at YTK.

Celeste Cantú from Temecula has been reappointed to the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board. She has served on this board since 2018 and brings experience as a University of California Master Gardener for Riverside County and previous roles in water resource management.

Letitia Clark, based in Tustin, will remain on the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board. Serving since 2020, Clark also serves as Chief Communications Officer at the South Orange County Community College District.

Hamid “David” Nahai from Los Angeles will continue his tenure with the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board. He previously held significant roles within the City of Los Angeles's Department of Water and Power.

Jayne Battey from Half Moon Bay will maintain her position on the San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control Board, a role she has held since 2016. She owns Miramar Farms and has a background in land and environmental management.

Vivian Perez from Holtville remains appointed to the Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board. Her professional background includes leadership roles at Equus Workforce Solutions and Raizes, alongside teaching at the University of Phoenix.

All appointees are Democrats, highlighting their continued involvement in state water quality governance under Governor Newsom’s administration.
