He noted that he had urged this action during a meeting with the New Zealand Embassy in the United States. Sherman further called for the European Union to follow New Zealand's lead by fully designating these groups as terrorist entities. He stated: "These countries demand that the U.S. defend them and that U.S. taxpayers provide the necessary resources."
