Santa Barbara County welcomes new custody deputies after academy graduation

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has welcomed 15 new Custody Deputies following their graduation from the Allan Hancock CORE Custody Deputy Academy. The ceremony took place on December 6, 2024, where Sheriff Brown swore in the new deputies just before the graduation event.

The graduates of CORE Custody Academy Class #18 include Cameron Binnebose, Benjamin Caudillo, Kimberly Corona-Porras, Ramiro Cortez, Jason Dunn, Hannah Garnica, Isiah Hernandez, Frederick Holland, Alberto Lagunas, Noah Lanier, Ignacio Quevedo Jr IV, Joshua Robinson, Celeste Sedano, Sierra Selby and Andres Vivanco.

These recruits completed a comprehensive 260-hour training program. The curriculum covered emergency planning in custody facilities, report writing skills, ethics in law enforcement, investigation procedures and inmate classification. They also learned about contraband detection methods and arrest and control techniques. Physical training and Direct Supervision were also part of their education.

Custody Deputy Noah Lanier was recognized as Class Valedictorian. Cameron Binnebose received the Santa Maria Elks Lodge Leadership Award. Joshua Robinson was honored with the Ron Battles “Most Inspirational” award by the Deputy Sheriff’s Association. Jason Dunn earned recognition for his proficiency in Defensive Tactics.
