California DOJ investigates Fresno shooting involving corrections officer

California Attorney General Rob Bonta has announced an investigation by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) into a recent officer-involved shooting in Fresno, California. The incident, which occurred on December 24, 2024, involved the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and resulted in one fatality.

The investigation is being conducted under Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), which mandates independent reviews of such incidents. The DOJ's California Police Shooting Investigation Team began its work after receiving notification from local authorities.
