The UC Davis community is invited to participate in the search for the next University of California (UC) president. A public meeting will be held by a committee of the UC Regents on January 17, providing an opportunity for community input.

The Regents Special Committee to Consider the Selection of the Next UC President will host a town hall at 1 p.m. in Ballroom A of the Activities and Recreation Center. According to their website, "These town halls provide a platform for community members to voice their comments and concerns, as well as share their perspectives on the qualities and experience they believe the next UC president should have." The committee encourages participation from all interested parties.

Community members can make comments either in person or by phone, with registration available online.

Current UC President Michael V. Drake announced his intention to step down at the end of the 2024-25 academic year. He has served as president since 2020, taking office during the COVID-19 pandemic. Reflecting on his tenure, Drake stated, “It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as president of the University of California these past several years, and I am immensely proud of what the UC community has accomplished.” He added that he aimed "to listen to those I served, to uphold our shared UC values, and to do all I could to leave this institution in better shape than it was before."
