Congressman Brad Sherman, representing California's 32nd District since 1997, has expressed his views on several recent statements made by former President Donald Trump. Sherman's comments were shared via social media posts.
On January 20, 2025, Sherman criticized Trump's remarks during the Inaugural Address concerning the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles. Sherman referred to Trump's statement: "Los Angeles where we are watching fires still tragically burn from weeks ago without even a TOKEN DEFENSE."
In response to Trump's comments about the firefighting efforts in Los Angeles, Sherman praised the firefighters' work against challenging conditions. On the same day, he tweeted: "I say thank you to thousands of America’s bravest – our firefighters – who provided a HEROIC DEFENSE against the fires and unprecedented 90+ mph winds."
Later that day, Sherman addressed another statement by Trump regarding historical events. He accused Trump of exaggerating figures related to American casualties during the construction of the Panama Canal and criticized Trump's claims about reclaiming control over the canal. Sherman's tweet read: "Trump massively, drastically overstates the number of Americans who died building the Panama Canal. He bases our claim to take back the canal on fabricated facts."
